The Triarii (singular: Triarius) formed one element of the Manipular legions of the Roman Republic. They were composed of the most experienced and best equipped soldiers of Rome. Though it was not always necessary to commit them to battle, their purpose was to be the decisive force for victory if the outcome was in question, thus prompting the ancient Latin maxim: ‘ad Triarius redisse‘ or ‘It comes down to the Triarius‘.
Triarius®, LLC was established in 2012 with the intent to provide the highest quality security services and training to private sector and government clients in the United States and abroad by building on a rock-solid foundation of over thirty years of diverse experience in the military, government and industrial sectors.
The company was founded by Charles Stevens, an international security professional and a security risk management expert with an unparalleled level of experience in antiterrorism, security risk analysis, law enforcement / security forces training and operations, infrastructure protection, pipeline and supply chain security, project management, and the integration of private industry and governmental security practices to support the assurance of commerce. His extensive and diverse experience includes managing overseas training projects for U.S. government agencies, and security programs and operations for several leading international corporations; working with the governments of over 40 countries – including high threat environs such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Colombia – to enhance their antiterrorism capabilities; training U.S. and foreign military and law-enforcement agencies; and commanding U.S. Army Special Forces units in combat in the Middle East and Africa. Mr. Stevens is a member of the ASIS Global Terrorism, Political Instability and International Crime Council, which provides information and expertise regarding threats presented by global terrorism, political instability, and international crime; promotes programs and best practices; assists with recognizing business vulnerabilities; and recommends strategies to mitigate risk.
As the Chief of Assessment, Review and Evaluation for the Office of Antiterrorism Assistance within the U.S. Department of State, Mr. Stevens was responsible for developing and implementing the assessment methodology and Security Management System upon which that office’s global assistance programs are based. He led and performed assessment missions throughout Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and South America – including numerous high-threat locations – working sensitive issues for critical assets with high-level officials of U.S. and foreign governments as well as senior management of Fortune 500 corporations.
Mr. Stevens has provided global security risk assessment, risk management and other security services to commercial clients in multiple industries, including hydrocarbons, chemicals and transportation. He served as a member of the team that prepared the American National Standards Institute Standard 780: Security Risk Assessment, which covers facilities and supply chain operations, and has been a featured speaker at conferences and seminars sponsored by the U.N. and the U.S. Department of State.
